Lingard Bell Ltd is a family run business which was incorporated on the 27th March 1962 by Mr Ray Bell & Mrs June Bell (the name Lingard is Mrs Bell’s maiden name). Steve Rowley joined the business full time in the year 2000 and his wife Carol Rowley (who is Ray and June’s daughter) gradually built up to a full time role once their children were in full time education. Steve and Carol live locally and are readily contactable by email or telephone.
Mrs June Bell was very much involved in the business right up until her sudden death on the 15th October 2017. Mr Ray Bell has sadly been in a care home for Alzheimer patients since April 2013.
Lingard Bell Ltd has an enviable reputation in the student lettings market due to a proven record of good management and having an approachable manner. We provide good quality properties which are personally managed by Steve and Carol and maintained in a very professional and hands on way by a great team of people. We pride ourselves in providing a strong customer service and treat our tenants as individuals not just a number. We are constantly updating and upgrading our properties to keep up with current trends.
The majority of our student lettings come via recommendations from our current tenants and we are also finding that ex tenants returning from their placements turn to us for accommodation on their return to Leeds. This says a lot about us and we are proud that we are getting it right!
Student safety is very important to us and we have introduced several additional features over the years, e.g. carbon monoxide detectors are supplied as standard, none of our main entrance door keys can be cut by a regular locksmith and all our workmen carry ID and/or are supplied with passwords. In May 2015 we upgraded our main entrance door locks to the latest security standard 3 star rated locks which are resistant to bumping, snapping, picking and drilling. All the bedrooms in our shared houses are fitted with locks. All of our properties meet the Gold level of security for the Safer Leeds – Safer Homes scheme which was launched by West Yorkshire Police/Unipol/Leeds City Council in July 2016. We have achieved the highest status with Unipol being GOLDEN OWNERS which means not a single complaint has been lodged against us since their monitoring system began over 10 years ago.
We are members of the Leeds City Council Leeds Landlord Accreditation Scheme and also members of the Leeds Property Association (LPA) and the Residential Landlords Association (RLA). All of these organisations are able to provide us with impartial advice and alert us to any changes in legislation.
